Championship final is here!
Round 9 of the STC Championship is complete, the results are posted, and the finalists are decided!
In the Championship section we have Pason and QueensCounselor from ICC, Spongeworthy from FICS and HaimPilosof from WCL. In the Challengers section we have dinkola and cityrat from ICC, who are joined by Nygren and astusparia from FICS. Congratulations to them all.
They now play in a two-round knockout over the next two weeks. Since last year's final was played on ICC, the intention is to play this year's games on FICS. Times will be posted here on the website so you can follow all the action.
Round one pairings are up - the 2009 STC Bunch Championship has begun!
If you are playing in the event, you can now access your game forum and start to arrange a playing time with your opponent. Please be sure to read the Player Guide , which contains most of what you should need to get through the tournament.
If you missed the first round, remember you can still latejoin until the end of round two.
A few important points to remember when playing in the tournament:
You must make contact in the game forum by 21:00 GMT on Wednesday - that's 17:00 ICC/WCL time, 14:00 FICS time - and you must have completed your game by 21:00 GMT next Monday.
Only use the "Set Agreed Time" button in your forum when you have actually agreed a time with your opponent. To send a message to your opponent with suggested times, just type in the big white box and hit "Submit".
When it's time to play your game, log into the server, wait for your opponent to arrive, and then issue the command "tell STCRobot play". If you start the game in any other way, the result will not be picked up automatically and may not be recorded at all.

The Championship starts on July 6--please note this revised date! It runs for 9 weeks, with the highest placed players going on to a 2 week knockout final. The first nine rounds are a Swiss system tournament, with two rating sections on ICC and FICS and one on WCL. We have over 2,100 members--who will win the right to call themselves the champion of all?

With just one late-ending game yet to be played, the bulk of standings in this year's May Mania are decided. I'll be posting the official results in a couple of days time once everything has been verified. In the meantime, you can check the results on the standings page .
